In this week’s architecture and design video round-up (above), enter the micro world of sculptor Matthew Simmonds, a British artist working in Denmark who combines his experience as an architectural carver with sacred themes to create mind-boggling miniatures in stone. Venture to Turin in Italy’s north to take a look at the latest Bun burger restaurant – the second designed by Spanish creative studio Masquespacio.

In China, OPEN Architecture has redefined what education facilities in the country might look like going forward with a village-like campus that corrals over 2000 students, aged from 3 to 15. And, finally this week, the Victorian chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has named the state’s most beautiful gardens and public landscapes. Take a look.

  • Set in stone: Rock star sculptor Matthew Simmonds employs a combination of traditional hand tools and pneumatic grinding and cutting instruments to chisel architectural miniatures in limestone and marble. Read more.

  • Burger baby: The opening of the Bun restaurant in northern Italy, the second under Masquespacio’s new vision, signals the continuation of a colour-filled mission to elevate the burger brand to cult-status proportions. Read more.

  • Garden magic: In a year when immense value is being placed on time spent outdoors, Victoria’s most beautiful gardens and public landscapes have been named by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. Read more.
