Unreal estate: Daniel Boddam presents furniture designs via virtual reality
Australian architect Daniel Boddam, who established his practice The Daniel Boddam Studio in 2013, has responded to the on-again, off-again closures of Australia’s borders by developing a virtual Parisian apartment – an inventive solution for showcasing his new collection of furniture during a time of travel bans and global isolation. “Travel has been an important part of my life since childhood, and Paris holds a particularly special place in my heart,” says Daniel. “The experience of confinement has been unsettling on so many levels, however instead of lamenting what was, I decided to explore what could be through 3D visualisation”.

Red hot: Mogensen’s ‘Spanish’ chairs released in handsome new colour
Danish furniture house Fredericia has revealed a special edition of one of Denmark’s most celebrated design duos, ‘The Spanish Chair’ and its dining chair counterpart. The new release sees the timeless chairs reimagined in deep red saddle leather – a warming hue that echoes an earthiness which Danish-born designer Børge Mogensen sought to instil in all of his unpretentious designs.

Magistretti’s ‘Carimate’ chair relaunched for designer’s 100th birthday
International design brand Fritz Hansen has released an anniversary edition of the iconic ‘Carimate’ chair in celebration of what would have been the designer-architect Vico Magistretti's 100th birthday. Magistretti (1920-2006) created the original cherry red chair in 1959 for the Carimate in Italy, the golf club after which the chair is named. Renowned for its equally distinctive red window frames, the Carimate clubhouse building was completed in collaboration with Guido Veneziani in 1962.

Lee Broom launches ‘Maestro’ chair at London Design Festival

Carla Sozzani curates new colours for classic Arne Jacobsen chairs
Founded in Denmark in 1872, furniture company Fritz Hansen has a long-running history of collaborating with world-renowned designers and tastemakers to realise visionary concepts. This tradition has seen classics old and new born from partnerships with homegrown Danish designers Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Kasper Salto and Cecilie Manz. Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon and Italian architect Piero Lissoni have also worked with the furniture house.

Italian furniture powerhouse Paola Lenti launches its best-ever outdoor fabric
After four years of intensive research and engineering, the technical team at Italian furniture house Paola Lenti has developed a coating solution that considerably increases the performance of the mono-material yarn called Twiggy. The brand says that the new yarn will deliver incredible performance when put to use in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, while also respecting the environment. Twiggy is an evolution of the polyolefin yarn that Paola Lenti first started using for its outdoor furniture fabrics 20 years ago.
